Sukarara village is lovely little village visited mainly for the traditional craft of weaving center located in the village district Sukarara Jonggat Central Lombok. This little village is famous for its traditional craft of weaving or also known as “Songket”. Almost every family on this village does the job. Most of the women in this village Sukarara worked as a weaver to maintain and preserve the culture of traditional hand weaving. These skills are inherited by their ancestor in the village, so every woman is required to learn to weave, even from the early stage of their lives. There traditionally trained village product using array of fine cotton, silk to create their original design.
Rambitan & Sade
The village of Rambitan and Sade are situated around 20kms south of the Praya district in Central Lombok. This tour is great if you want to learn about Lomboks ancient tradition. Visiting this village is awhole new experience!
Rambitan and Sade are the most interesting villages where most of the inhabitants practice and maintain their traditional and cultural values.
Sasak villages are distinctively marked by grass-roofed-houses symmetrically constructed on wood frames and bamboo walls. Bale is the type of house, built with single room functioning both as a sleeping room and kitchen. Lumbungs is a curve-like construction used as storage for rice.
Along the tour you will see many locals that sell hand-made souvenirs like hand-woven fabric, t-shirts, bracelets, key chains etc. You also can learn how to weave the traditional way as well as go to their houses so you can see their bedroom and kitchen.
Banyumulek village is also known for one main trade. In this case its pottery! In Banyumulek village, making pottery has been in the Sasak Lombok tribe for generations. Pottery making has been able to move the village economic wheel and attract many visitors and buyers to come to this village.
When entering Banyumulek village, you will be welcomed by a green gate which says ‘Banyumulek, Pottery Centre’. Even the school and local government offices are decorated by huge potteries in the gate fence.
Along the street, many Lombok galleries can be found. All you have to do is just choose which one you want to visit. Amongst them, there is a major gallery you can find, where your eye will be spoiled by the various kinds of Lombok pottery with various shapes, size, color, functions, and uniqueness. Some of them are egg-shaped earthen pot, sand flower vase, sand flat vase, chicken-shaped bank, jar, lampshade, and various wall decorations in many sizes.
According to a local people, the special item of the village is the thief kettle (kendi maling). In Indonesian, maling means thief. The name thief was given because to fill the kettle, you have to do it from a hole in the kettle’s bottom, like a thief who never takes a normal way. Even if the hole is in the kettle’s bottom, the water will not come out if the kettle is put like any other kettle. The kettle has been perfectly designed so the water will not come out from the bottom hole! Crazy!
Malimbu Cliff :
There are plenty of beautiful places you can visit if you want to see a beautiful sunset in Lombok. However Malimbu Hill gives you a special sunset view that you cannot find in any other place. Rumor has it its the best place to see sunset in Lombok!
Malimbu hill is the a perfect place to wind down after a big day of adventure in Lombok, with the final destination, dinner in Sengiggi.
The Senggigi region is the main tourist destination on the island of Lombok in Indonesia. The main town is Senggigi itself, and the whole area is well known for its beautiful west facing beaches.
There are plenty of eating options in Senggigi, with a surprising array of Western-style dishes on the menu. We will spend time here to get your dinner and after, home time to Gili Trawangan using private speed boat!
